UPDATED JANUARY 2010 - new work from my sketchbook..

A little about me...

My work is heavily influenced by an ongoing interest in 1950s Britain that began when i wrote my dissertation on the 1951 Festival of Britain. I love the romance of the era, the design of the era and most importantly the excitement that was born from the austerity it began with.
I am attracted the aesthetically beautiful; ceramics, birds, furniture, fabric, and creatures. My pieces may not make huge political statements but they are comforting, surprising and pleasing to look at.

I am primarily a printmaker, but due to the expense of creating prints outside of a college environment I have spent the past year experimenting with drawing and small studies. My knowledge of printmaking techniques informing the way I draw.

Previous

October 2009    Art in Woodstock, The Woodstock Bookshop

I have been selected as one of 30 artists who will exhibit work throughout the Oxfordshire town of Woodstock. A series of small works on paper.

August 2008        'It ain't what you do'

I was selected to exhibit in a sculpture and printmaking show organised by the St.Ives society of Artists.

June 2008         Degree Show

The weeklong degree show required a great deal of planning and I ambitiously chose to hang a selection of my work by different means. A drawing spanning nearly four metres, a mixed wall, a wall of wallpaper I hand printed and a print suspended by magnets. The experience of working with others curating my show was easily the most enjoyable aspect of my degree.

January 2007        Midstream Exhibition

Mixed exhibition to mark the completion of half of the degree. I entered a triptych of drawings based on the bayeux tapestry.
